- This #gibsonfirebrand has come full circle. While doing a refret, I trued up the fingerboard, which was a bit bumpy. I also ended up doing a rewire with all new parts (except the pickups.) The electronics had been worked on a lot over the years, and apart from being dirty, they were really sloppy. I was putting the finishing touches on the project when the old, plastic nut snapped in two. Alas, I’ll have to wait a bit longer to rock—time to install the bone nut I built today and do a final setup.
- Roughed out a new #banjo dowel stick for this old tenor out of a scrap of maple I scavenged from an old piano. I’ll fit the dowel, align, and then taper to its final shape before French Polishing with some dark shellac. #frenchpolishing
